UK Spouse Visa Documents Philippines: PSA, CENOMAR, TB

If you are applying for a UK spouse visa from the Philippines, most of your documents are the same as for any other applicant. There are three points specific to the Philippines:

  • A TB test certificate from a Home Office approved clinic in the Philippines. The Philippines is on the GOV.UK list of countries where a TB test is needed.
  • Civil documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), such as your marriage certificate. If either of you was married before, you also need proof that the earlier marriage ended.
  • An English language test. The Philippines is not on the GOV.UK list of countries whose nationals are exempt.

This post covers these documents and how to gather them. It does not cover whether you qualify. All figures and rules were checked on GOV.UK on 30 September 2026. Rules and fees can change, so confirm on GOV.UK before you pay or book.

What GOV.UK lists for every partner application

The GOV.UK page on information and evidence for family visas lists these items for a partner application:

  • your current passport or other valid travel ID
  • copies of the photo page and any visa or entry stamps in your previous passports
  • details of any previous immigration applications and any criminal convictions
  • your partner's details, including their passport and their UK immigration status
  • evidence that any previous marriages have ended, "for example a divorce certificate"
  • evidence of your relationship
  • evidence of income, such as payslips, bank statements and an employer letter
  • proof of your knowledge of English
  • a certified translation of any document that is not in English or Welsh
  • your tuberculosis test results, if you are from a country where you have to take the test

GOV.UK also says you will be told exactly which documents to provide when you apply online. For the income documents, see our guide to spouse visa bank statements and payslips.

The TB test in the Philippines

GOV.UK says you need a TB test if you are coming to the UK for 6 months or more, and you have lived in a listed country for at least 6 months, and you were living there within the last 6 months. The Philippines is on the list.

Where to get it. The test must come from a clinic approved by the Home Office. GOV.UK says it will not accept a TB certificate from a clinic it has not approved. The GOV.UK page for the Philippines lists six approved clinics:

ClinicCity
Physicians' Diagnostic Services PEME System International Corp.Cagayan De Oro
Physicians' Diagnostic Services Center, Inc.Cebu
Physicians' Diagnostic Services Center, Inc.Davao
Iloilo Physicians' Diagnostic Services and Laboratory Center, IncIloilo
International Organisation for Migration Health CentreManila
Physicians' Diagnostic Services Center, Inc.Manila

Booking. Contact a clinic and say that you need the test for a UK visa application. GOV.UK says appointments are usually available within a few days. In the busy season, July to October, you may wait up to 10 days.

What to bring. Photo ID, such as your passport, and the test fee. If you have had TB or lung disease before, bring details of your earlier screening and, if possible, your medical notes and x-ray results.

Cost. The GOV.UK page lists PHP 3,600 for ages 11 and over, and PHP 600 for children under 11. This is paid on top of the visa fee. For the Home Office fees themselves, see our UK spouse visa fees 2026 breakdown.

How long it is valid. The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of your x-ray. Plan the test so the certificate is still valid when you apply.

Children. All children must see a clinician, who decides if they need a chest x-ray. Children under 11 do not normally have one. A certificate is still needed.

You include the certificate with your visa application.

PSA documents: marriage and birth certificates

A marriage certificate is one of the examples GOV.UK gives of evidence of your relationship. For a marriage in the Philippines, this is a Philippine civil registry document.

Home Office guidance on the Philippines (the Knowledge Base profile, written for HM Passport Office staff) gives some useful background:

  • All birth, marriage and death records in the Philippines are held by the Civil Registrar General.
  • Marriages that need a marriage licence must be registered within 15 days of the wedding. The certificate is issued after the marriage is registered.

So if you married recently, the marriage has to be registered before you can get the certificate.

If children are applying with you, their documents are also listed on the application. Check which ones the online form asks for.

CENOMAR and the Advisory on Marriages

The same Home Office profile names two PSA documents that show a person's marital status:

  • the Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR), CRS form number 4
  • the Advisory on Marriages, CRS form number 5

The GOV.UK family visa page does not name either document in its list. What GOV.UK asks for is evidence that any previous marriages have ended.

If either of you was married before

GOV.UK asks for evidence that any previous marriage has ended, for example a divorce certificate. The Home Office profile explains that divorce is not legal in the Philippines. It says a Philippine citizen's marriage is usually permanent unless:

  • it has been annulled
  • a declaration of nullity has been made, meaning the marriage never existed
  • the couple divorced legally outside the Philippines

The document that shows the marriage ended depends on which of these applies. Include a certified translation for any page that is not in English or Welsh.

English language

GOV.UK lists 17 countries and territories whose nationals do not need to prove their English. The Philippines is not one of them. GOV.UK lists three ways to prove it:

  • a degree from a UK institution
  • a degree from an institution outside the UK that was taught in English
  • a pass in an English test from an approved provider

For a first partner visa, the test level is at least A1 on the CEFR scale.

Putting it in order

One simple order for the Philippines-specific documents:

  1. Passport, then copies of photo pages and stamps from previous passports
  2. PSA marriage certificate
  3. Documents showing any previous marriage ended, each with its translation if needed
  4. English test result or degree evidence
  5. TB test certificate

Name each file clearly, for example psa-marriage-certificate.pdf rather than scan0012.pdf. Our guide to organising your UK spouse visa documents covers the full set.

Checklist

  • Current passport, plus photo pages and stamps from previous passports
  • PSA marriage certificate (marriage registered first)
  • Evidence that any previous marriage ended (annulment, declaration of nullity, or foreign divorce)
  • Certified translation of any document not in English or Welsh
  • English test from an approved provider (level A1 or above), or degree evidence
  • TB certificate from an approved clinic in the Philippines, x-ray within the last 6 months
  • TB certificate for each child applying with you
  • Income and relationship evidence

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a TB test for a UK spouse visa from the Philippines? The Philippines is on the GOV.UK list of countries where a TB test is needed. GOV.UK says the test applies if you are coming for 6 months or more and have lived in a listed country for at least 6 months, including within the last 6 months. The test must be from a Home Office approved clinic.

How long is the TB certificate valid? 6 months from the date of the x-ray.

Does GOV.UK ask for a CENOMAR for a spouse visa? The GOV.UK family visa page does not name the CENOMAR. It asks for evidence that any previous marriages have ended. The CENOMAR is a PSA document that shows marital status.

Do Filipino applicants need an English test? The Philippines is not on the GOV.UK list of exempt countries. GOV.UK lists three ways to prove English: a UK degree, a degree taught in English from outside the UK, or an approved English test.

How Stratovisa helps

This part of the application has many small documents from different offices: the PSA, the TB clinic, the English test provider, and sometimes a court. Stratovisa gives you a checklist for the spouse and partner visa with a slot for each document, so you can upload them as they arrive and see what is still missing. When everything is in place, you download one organised package for the online application.
